There comes a point in life when you slow down long enough to ask yourself a simple but important question. What really matters? What do you want to leave behind? At this chapter in my life this is where I am focused.
I have spent much of my life working, building, being part of of a family that has in more recent years, unfolded in the public eye. Born from immigrant parents, I have been blessed beyond what I could have imagined from our humble begins in East Vancouver. The older I get, the more I find myself thinking less about what I have achieved, and more about what I will leave behind. I want to help build a future that feels steadier, stronger and more hopeful than the one families are experiencing today.
Families, especially families who build things together, know that success and struggle often exist side by side. How deeply my mother, my father and my own children have shaped my sense of purpose, responsibility, and gratitude has never been more clear than today.
What I know for sure is that when families are strong, when children feel seen and supported, when parents have access to opportunity and community, the impact reaches far beyond a single household. Entire communities can be changed. And when those foundations weaken, the consequences pull us further away from what really matters.
That understanding is what led me to establish this Legacy Initiative. I believe that when you are given the capacity to make a meaningful difference, choosing not to act is, in itself, a decision. It is not a decision I am willing to make.
Our focus is clear. We are working to connect young people with mentors who will stand beside them. We are helping to remove financial barriers that keep talented students from pursuing post secondary education. And we are making sure that no child is denied the chance to participate in sport, to experience the belonging, discipline, and resilience it builds, simply because their family cannot afford the cost.
These efforts matter because every young person carries possibility. The student who receives support today may become the innovator who helps communities navigate the challenges of tomorrow. The young person who finds guidance at a local club may grow into the leader who lifts others along the way. The child who steps onto the ice or the field for the first time may carry that sense of confidence and connection for the rest of their life.
I am proud of what we have built in business. But I am even more proud of what we are choosing to build now, together, with purpose and with heart.
Thank you for walking alongside us.
